E-Glass is an alumo-borsilicate glass with an alkali content < 1%. To produce the filaments, which are the "building blocks" for all other textile products, the raw materials are melted at a high temperature and spun out through special nozzles.

Depending on the fineness of the filaments and the required weight per unit length, several hundred to several thousand of these filaments are used to create the resulting threads.
